This course explores how to understand and work with clients presenting with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, as well as making sure learners are aware of any factors that may affect treatment and/or presentation

What you will learn

  • Develop an understanding of the basis for a diagnosis of OCD

  • Develop a critical understanding of the causes of OCD

  • Be aware of unhelpful therapeutic approaches to working with OCD

  • Build confidence in applying ERP in therapeutic practice

  • Build confidence in applying the CBT model of OCD in therapeutic practice

  • Develop a creative and client-centred approach to working with challenging presentations of OCD (sexual/violent/blasphemous obsessions) 

  • Develop a creative and client-centred approach to working with clients with co-occurring diagnoses (GAD, trauma, Neurodiversity)

  

Most practitioners have an awareness of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), yet there remains a lot of uncertainty and apprehension around what it is and how best to work with clients with this presentation.

Accordingly, this course will aim to provide practitioners with a better understanding of OCD and how best to work with it, as well as helping practitioners build confidence in working with more challenging presentations of OCD.


This flexible programme can be completed at a time and pace convenient to the individual learner. It is a combination of short, instructor-led webinars, independent learning, and reflective exercises.
